CALIFORNIA - 2002 STANDARDS & TESTING SUMMARY

Simply meeting the minimum testing requirements is not Pro-Lok’s goal.  Our goal is to exceed the minimum requirements by a substantial margin.  The chart below is a summary of the California Testing requirements.  A detailed copy of the complete standards and testing requirements follows our summary chart.  Check on the CADOJ website for additions and or modifications.


Test performed California minimum requirements


Picking or Manipulation
The cylinder shall resist picking with jumbo and small paper clips and small screwdrivers.


2 Minutes each
Use each paper clip and screwdriver for 2 minutes each.


Forced removal inspection
Visually inspect the firearm safety device on the firearm.


Visual inspection
Determine if the design allows the removal of the device through the partial destruction of the firearm.


Tensile test
Test the strength of the firearm safety device with a pulling action.


225 LBS
of pulling force.


Shock test
Designed to test the firearm safety devices lock mechanisms ability to withstand shock.


”10” 2.2 lb drops
Drop 2.2 lbs 5 times on the keyway and 5 times on the lock body.


Cable cutting test
Designed to test the deterrence to cutting pliers.


100 Lbs
Apply 100 lbs of hand force and hold for 2 minutes.


Plug pulling test
Designed to test the cylinders resistance to torque pressures.


89 lbs of force-inches
Insert a screwdriver blade into the keyway and apply the torque load.


Plug torque test
Designed to test the cylinders ability to withstand pulling attempts to dislodge the plug from the cylinder.


Apply 225 lbs of force
Insert a screwdriver blade into the keyway and apply the torque load.


Saw test
Designed to test the lock body & cables resistance to a hacksaw.


120 Strokes
Apply 10 lbs of downward pressure on the saw.
