PREPARE THE FIREARM FOR INSTALLATION OF THE LOCK: ALWAYS POINT THE FIREARM IN A SAFE DIRECTION.
1) Put safety in the "on safe" position as instructed in your firearms owner manual. 2) Completely unload the firearm as instructed in your firearms owner manual. 3) Visually check the chamber, feed & magazine tube, verify the gun is completely unloaded.
INSTALL THE LOCK ON THE FIREARM: 4) Turn the key clockwise (until the key stops) to the "unlocked" position. 5) To remove the cable from the lock, HOLD the key all the way in the "unlocked" position and pull the cable end from the lock body. 6) Thread the cable end through the barrel of the gun as indicated in the appropriate firearm photo below. DO NOT operate the action with the lock in place. Damage to the firearm can occur. 7) With the key HELD ALL THE WAY in the "unlocked" position with one hand, insert the loose cable end all the way (until it stops) into the receiving hole of the lock. 8) With one hand holding the cable end ALL THE WAY into the lock body, turn the key counter-clockwise to the "locked" position & remove the key. 9) Pull sharply on the cable end to verify the cable is locked.
TROUBLESHOOTING: If the loose cable end does not enter the receiving hole: Make sure you are holding the key ALL THE WAY in the unlocked position while you are inserting the cable into the lock. If you cannot remove the key from the lock: The key can only be inserted and removed in the completely "locked" position. If the cable end is inserted into the lock body and the key cannot be turned ALL THE WAY to the "locked" position and the key removed; the cable end is not fully inserted in the receiving hole of the lock body. To correct this problem:
A) Turn the key clockwise and HOLD the key ALL THE WAY in the "unlocked" position.
B) Push the cable end further into the lock body (all the way) and hold the cable end in this position while you turn the key back to the "locked" position. Remove the key |
