TRIGGER
LOCKS - MODEL GL650 3-in-1 Instant-Access |
|
This
is the largest selling and most popular California approved
trigger lock. The GL650 offers some unique features that no
other lock provides. This lock is self-adjusting to the
thickness of most trigger guards on most firearms.
As
quickly and easily as it is to remove this lock while in the
"instant access" mode for the authorized user, it is
difficult and seldom accomplished by an unauthorized user
without the knowledge beforehand. Additionally, for extra
deterrence, while in the "key locked level 2" mode, an
additional step other than the key is required.
We
realize that some firearm owners will never lock their firearms
no matter what. However, we take great pride when we receive
phone calls and letters from firearm owners who tell us that
they love the features of this lock and as a result, this lock
has changed their mind and they now will lock their firearm. This
lock also receives praise from firearm owners that desire
additional deterrence from a standard keyed lock.
The
uniqueness of this lock has something to offer firearm
owners with different wants and needs. Equally liked by firearm
owners is that you can switch the level of deterrence at
anytime that you choose and as often as you choose. Whether you
want instant access, additional deterrence, accidental discharge
cable protection (on many firearms) or the ability to use a
cable to secure the firearm, this lock offers you more options
than any other external lock available.
With
over 4,000 firearm models certified, the GL650 trigger lock is
the most versatile trigger lock available today.

INSTANT
ACCESS (Level 1)
This lock
has a special instant access feature that can be used if the
owner has immediate control of the firearm. We have found that
many firearm owners who choose not to use any lock at all,
decide to use this lock when this feature is demonstrated. While
in the instant access (level 1) mode, the lock can be opened
without the key in less than 2 seconds, when the special trick
is known.
We
have demonstrated this feature and baffled tens of thousands of
firearm owners, law enforcement personnel, firearm
manufacturer's and locksmiths. The common reaction when this
feature is shown right in front of these experts is typically
the same "That's a great feature but if it is that easy to
open, everyone can open it". We usually respond with
"You're probably right". We re-lock the firearm and
hand it back to the curious expert and ask them to remove the
lock. We have had people stand at tradeshow booths and firearm
stores for as much as 20-30 minutes trying to remove the lock
with no success (even after opening the lock in front of them
several more times without showing them the special trick).
Note:
For security purposes, we have chosen not to show the special
trick here. To see this feature work, visit your local firearm
dealer for a demonstration.
This
lock also is equipped with a deadlock feature. If someone does
NOT know the special trick to open the lock, there is a special
deadlock feature that may be activated while unauthorized
attempts are used to try to figure the special trick out. The
deadlock feature, if activated , will prevent the lock from
being opened even with the special trick being performed. Once
unauthorized attempts to open the lock are stopped, the deadlock
feature is re-set. If nothing else, this lock may delay access
to gaining unauthorized use of the firearm. This delay may be
valuable time where the unauthorized user may become frustrated,
stop, change their mind or be discovered in their attempt.

|
Caution:
Never store your firearm with the lock in the "Instant
Access" mode. Always store your firearm with the lock
"key" locked.

WHAT
IF
AN UNAUTHORIZED USER KNOWS THE TRICK OR GETS LUCKY?
Occasionally, someone
will ask us what if an unauthorized user finds out how to use this
feature or it they get lucky and figure out the special trick? Our
response is simple:
-
You should never show
the special trick to any unauthorized user, and under no circumstance do we
recommend showing children.
-
We never recommend
leaving the firearm in the instant access (level 1) mode. This
feature is designed and intended ONLY to be used when the firearm is in
your immediate possession and control.
-
If you use other locks
that require ONLY a key to unlock the device, and an
unauthorized user finds the key, they have immediate access to
the firearm. With our GL650 lock, if an unauthorized user
finds your key, they still are required to perform the special
trick to open the lock. This extra required step may be the
difference of stopping an unauthorized user from gaining access to
your firearm. The bottom line is, if an unauthorized user
knows the special trick, the key is still required in the
"key locked" (level 2) mode and is not any more
vulnerable than other keyed external locks, (see KEY LOCKED
level 2 below)
-
If you stored your
firearm in a safe, would you close the safe door without
spinning the dial to lock it? Would you leave your house
without inserting your key and locking the deadbolt? These
locks only offer limited deterrence if you use the key and
lock them properly. The same equally holds true with the GL660
& GL650 locks. If you key lock the gun lock, the "instant
access" feature is nothing more than an additional safety
step required to remove the lock from the firearm.
-
The
trick to open this lock is easy if you know how, but far from
obvious. This statement is easily substantiated based on
weekly inquiries that we receive from users of this lock. We
receive questions because some owners have not used the lock
in sometime and cannot remember the trick to remove the lock.
They have thrown the instructions away and have tried for
varied amounts of time to figure the trick out to no avail.
After they are informed of the trick, the lock is removed
instantly.
WHAT
IF I DON'T WANT TO USE THE INSTANT ACCESS FEATURE?
In the event
someone does not want to ever use me instant access (level 1
mode), they don't have to. If the key is inserted into the
cylinder and turned to the locked position, the "instant
access" feature is disengaged. To open the lock while in the
key locked (level 2 mode), the key must be used to turn the
cylinder to the unlocked position AND the special trick must be
used.
WARNING:
NEVER
leave the firearm unattended in the instant access (level 1 mode).
Please read all warnings and instructions that are provided with
the lock and supplied with your firearm.
KEY
LOCKED (LEVEL 2) EXTRA DETERRENCE
Many firearm owners desire extra
deterrence than traditional trigger locks or cable locks may
offer. If the key is lost or stolen, a typical trigger lock or
cable lock can be opened easily. If the key is found or stolen for
this lock, the unauthorized user is unable to open the lock
without the knowledge (or luck) of the special trick (level 1)
required to remove the lock from the firearm. Just as many people
love this lock because they occasionally desire quick access, many
people purchase the lock because of the combination of our
level 1 and level 2 features requirement to open the lock. One of
the advantages of using the level 2 feature is that the lock
requires two actions to remove the lock. If the key is found with
other locks, whoever has the key can remove the lock and has
gained immediate access to the firearm. With this lock in the
level 2 mode, if an unauthorized user were to find the key, the
special trick is still required to open and remove the lock. (2
separate steps are required).
STEEL
RACHET LOCKING DESIGN
Typical trigger locks are usually
made with a die-cast locking or latching parts. Our GL650 latching
system is constructed of steel. We designed this lock using steel
parts for strength and durability purposes.

appropriate to be used in all homes or under all conditions. It is
important to read and follow the detailed instructions, warnings
and inspection procedures included with each lock. This lock is
only one part of safe firearm safety and storage. This lock is not
a substitute for safe firearm handling or storage. Always store
the firearm in an inaccessible place from children. Always store
your firearm unloaded. Always store your ammunition in a separate
locked container, in a different location than your firearm.
